Damian McGinty- Those Were The Days Tour; 13th November, 2021

I really don’t know what to say about this show. It kind of felt like a dream. Damian is extremely talented; honestly, I said ‘Wow’ several times during the show because his voice is just that good.

He did a great mix of songs. He did a bunch of originals and some Celtic/Irish songs as well. Aside from his amazing voice, the best part of the show was how engaging he was. Of course, he played several of my favorites: Those Were The Days and This Old Town (from his latest EP), Geronimo, and You Should Know.

The venue was a room on the upper floor of the Irish Culture Center in Canton Massachusetts. It was very intimate. It was just his voice and a guitar; perfect in everyway.

I decided to do the meet and greet option for this show. I am super happy that I did. Damian was so sweet and hilarious. He did a question and answer session before the show. He had some interesting stories to tell. One of my favorites was how he was inspired by his childhood when creating his latest EP; the story he told was how he came up with the song This Old Town and how the neighborhood children would cut a hole in the fence at a park area. It was a very lovely story.

He was also very personable to everyone in the crowd. He looked at everyone when they asked a question and made sure everyone felt included during the show. When the meet and greet aspect came around I heard him say people’s names. He knew the names of all his street team members and aspects of their personal lives. It was incredible and impressive.

By the time it was my turn I got super nervous. I did some deep breathing exercises while I was in line. Another fan of his (behind me in line) helped me relax a little. It just shows how awesome the energy in the room was as everyone was just so humble. Damian himself was super nice and friendly. He asked how I spelled my name on the poster I got autographed and smiled at me as I walked up. The entire experience was just great in every way. I am super happy that I got to have this experience and totally recommend seeing him live if you get the chance.

If you get the chance to meet him please do it. He is a very sweet and welcoming person. Honestly, I feel, he really does love his fans.
