Riker Lynch, you may remember him as one-fifth of the band R5. If you’re a Gleek like me you know him as Jeff (the member who auditioned six times) from the Dalton Academy Warblers. The world was recently introduced to Riker on the new NBC music contest show American Song Contest; where musical artists from all backgrounds (representing every state and territory in the USA) compete to win the title of the best song in America.
Riker is representing Colorado (where he lives) and discusses in his introduction how he saw his first concert at Red Rock. He performed his original song “feel the love” that he explains has a beachy vibe to it that he is into. They definitely saved the best for last.
“Feel the love” was the final performance of this episode and (not to sound biased) it was my favorite performance. Riker had so much energy during his performance that it was infectious. He engaged the audience, he crowds surfed, sang to the camera, and had beach balls everywhere. Seriously, look it up if you can.
You can stream his song anywhere you stream music.
Although Riker didn’t win the Jury selection top spot (he was ranked six, hmm what a coincidence) he did get a spot in the semi-finals. After the open America vote, Riker ranked second and secured one of the three spots available for the semifinals.
