This was a big day for Gleeks; the one and only Lea Michele did a live show! It was a magical evening full of songs and stories. It felt very intimate and was an incredible experience.
Lea discussed her career starting from the age of eight to her current project (playing Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on broadway). It was pretty cool to hear all of the stories from her start on broadway in Les Miserables, Rag Time, Fiddler On The Roof, & Spring Awakening.
One of my favorite stories is about how she would have her height measured every so often when she was in Les Miserables. How all the child actors would slouch so they could stay in the show longer and ‘grown out of the role.’ It just wasn’t stories of her years on Broadway and Glee; she also sang songs from the shows!
She sang part of “There is A Castle On The Cloud” from Les Miserables, “Matchmaker” from Fiddler On The Roof, as well as some other songs off of Broadway. When it came time to the Glee aspect she sang from the start with “On My Own” from Les Miserables all the way to “Glitter in the Air” by Pink. She also played with the audience and asked favorite Glee covers and then sang a bit of the one she heard. Also asked favorite Glee episodes and sang songs from those episodes as well.
As always her voice is truly amazing. She really is an incredible talent. I mean she sang so wonderfully she even ‘broke the mic’ during the show. It was a funny moment since the cord fell out of the microphone.
That wasn’t all the Glee in the show though. Lea also discussed how she met Ryan Murphy. She discussed how went to visit, the one and only, Jonathan Groff in Los Angeles and had drinks with him and Ryan Murphy one night. She then explained the infamous story about how she totaled her car before the Glee audition and got the part of Rachel Berry.
But it doesn’t end there. Before the show, she did a Question and Answer session and did a photo opportunity with fans who purchased the VIP package. Of course, I totally participated in this (I mean I do have a Glee Bucket list to get through). I must say she was super nice to me.

I walked around the corner and immediately got greeted with “Aww I saw your shirt from the stage [during the Q&A]” and I got super giddy. I told her about how I saw her with Darren and drove to Pennsylvania and she had the sweetest tone in her voice. She made me feel as though she was very appreciative of the fan support and super happy to meet me; it was really nice.
