I’ve talked about this item a lot already. It was one of the first production used pieces I ever bought and helped to inspire the creation of this museum!

Although I have no certificate of authenticity or any wardrobe tag to accompany this item I do have some circumstantial evidence to correspond that this was used on Glee. The helmet has a piece of tape with a name inside of it that says, ‘Hock’. When I looked up the name on IMDB it came back to a stunt person who was in one single episode of Glee and that is the Sue Sylvester Shuffle (Season 2 Episode 11).
This is the only ‘hat’ type of wardrobe item that I have so my only labeling experience is actual clothing pieces. From the minimal experience I have I do know that every article is tagged. So I am going to assume that this is authentic.
There is wear-n-tear that indicates that it was used while filming. You can visibly see some scuff marks on the top and sides. Some scratches on the plastic and the face cage. There is also some discoloration on the chin straps from use as well.

I will be honest here. I have tried this on; it was too tempting to not try it on. It is heavy and hard to hold up. I have not adjusted the straps at all since I recieved it; I assume they are in the place as when Mr. Hock sported it on the small screen. This leads me to believe that it was fitted specifically for the actors head size since it is way to large for me. That is pretty cool though!
Now I do not know if Mr. Hock was a stunt double for a specific actor or was just an extra stunt person for the game scenes. He was not listed as a dancer so I am going to assume that he was not filmed in the performance scene of Head Will Roll/Thriller Mash Up. With this assumption, I am going to say he most likely was filmed during the game sequences.
Regardless, this is a cool piece. It is pretty iconic as this was one of the highest budgeted episodes. Took the longest to film. Also aired after the superbowl that year; which, I believe, contributed to its nickname of the ‘Superbowl episode’ (that’s what it is called on the wardrobe continuety sheets).
